What a lovely paddle to get to this pub, along the edge of Portholme with some lovely shallow, gravel bottomed, paddling and picnic places. Book a meal or enjoy a bar snack.
Tie up just after the lock and explore Portholme meadow. Picnic in the park or coffee by the quay. Godmanchester is an ancient Roman site with some beautiful old and new riverside properties .

Tie up before the church which lost its' spire in the 1740s. Walk along the meadows, admire the old manor house built around 1130 and is one of the oldest inhabited houses in the UK. It was the home of Lucy Boston who wrote children's books including the Green Knowe series. The Cock in the village has been national pub of the year twice!
The small market town of St Ives , once home to Oliver Cromwell, is ripe to be explored. Enjoy the local farmers market, the coffee shops and the old dutch quay.
